He recites the masterpieces, mostly poetry, flourished with traditional calligraphy and sitar melodies in the background which is continually released on different digital media platforms and is available for free across the internet.
"Urdu language has a rich literary tradition spanning over centuries in the Indian subcontinent. Writers like Mir, Ghalib, Sir Syed, Daagh, Iqbal, Patras, and Faiz are among the assets that speakers of the language can be proud of," says Raheel. "We have set a goal, that is, to revitalize the culture of love, tolerance, peace, and diversity through renditions of the masterpieces that are now almost forgotten. We have a special focus on the quality parameters of our presentations like the accuracy of pronunciation, fidelity of standard accent, authenticity of texts, etc, to ensure the audience realizes the magnitude of the great legacy."
Lehja, the Urdu poetry recitation channel, and podcast, was launched in 2017 as a spoken word project and has grown since to become the biggest digital collection of the classics. Known for the quality and aesthetics of presentations, it has earned the applause of some of the most notable critics and connoisseurs of art and literature.
Episodes released on the Lehja channel on YouTube are released as audio presentations along with slides of text composed in classic Nastaliq calligraphy. On the other hand, the Urdu podcast is generally opted by those who prefer an undistracted focus on the voice and narration.
