Los Angeles, California Jun 22, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Legendary hip-hop artist Layzie Bone is set for a historic year as he celebrates both a monumental lifetime achievement with his group, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and a major leap into feature film acting.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has officially announced that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the coveted Class of 2026. The official star unveiling ceremony will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. Group members Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone will be honored together, solidifying their 30-year legacy as the sole hip-hop group chosen for this year's class.
Compounding this historic milestone, GC Films Hollywood has announced that Layzie Bone will star in the upcoming feature film, The Golden Microphone, which is currently in active development.
Written and directed by filmmaker Clayton Guiltner of GC Films Hollywood, The Golden Microphone is a compelling drama about a 17-year-old rapper who discovers a mysterious microphone once belonging to his uncle—a former hip-hop artist whose career was derailed by the same record label now running a major music competition.
Guiltner is joined by co-producer Traci Fantroy of GC Films Hollywood, who was brought on after previously collaborating with him at Everstar Entertainment in 2022. Fantroy also produced alongside Guiltner on his last two films, Hope’s Hollywood Christmas and Pillow Armor.
The film is produced by Marquette Hawkins (aka DJ Clintel), who also receives a “story by” credit, and is executive produced by entertainment entrepreneur Bryant T. Scott, founder of Flavortown Entertainment Group. Hawkins is a veteran of the West Coast hip-hop scene, best known for his early involvement with the World Class Wreckin’ Cru alongside Dr. Dre, where he was a writer on all seven tracks of the group’s debut album, World Class. During that era, he also mentored a young Ice Cube and Sir Jinx, helping shape their early development as emcees. After departing the group, Hawkins went on to launch his own record label and film production company focused on music video work, while also expanding into screenwriting. In 1994, he served as a producer on Concrete Roots, a Dr. Dre compilation album.
Scott is drawing on his extensive music industry connections to align the live-action film and its accompanying soundtrack with established, authentic voices from the hip-hop community.
"Having Layzie Bone join The Golden Microphone is a tremendous addition to the project," said Guiltner. "His impact on hip-hop is undeniable, and his perspective brings authenticity to the story we're telling. This film is about legacy, opportunity, and overcoming obstacles, themes that resonate throughout hip-hop history and continue to inspire new generations."
Production timelines and soundtrack details for The Golden Microphone will be announced by GC Films in the coming months. Fans can gather along Hollywood Boulevard on July 8, 2026, to witness Bone Thugs-N-Harmony accept their star on the Walk of Fame.
