Baltimore, Maryland Aug 3, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - With more than 26 years of nursing experience spanning numerous clinical specialties, Kristi Sanders, RN, continues to exemplify compassionate, patient-centered care through her work at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Recognized for her clinical expertise, leadership, and dedication to bedside nursing, Kristi has built a distinguished career focused on improving the lives of patients during some of their most challenging moments.
Currently serving in the Neurology and Intermediate Care (IMC) units at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Kristi has spent the past two and a half years caring for patients with complex neurological and medical conditions. Her journey to Johns Hopkins began as a six-month travel nurse assignment, where she quickly discovered a strong connection with both the organization and its patient population. Impressed by her professionalism, skill, and commitment, the hospital offered her a permanent staff position, where she continues to thrive.
Throughout her career, Kristi has cultivated extensive clinical expertise across a broad spectrum of healthcare settings. Her experience includes medical-surgical nursing, women’s health, mother-baby care, pulmonary medicine, cardiology, rehabilitation, home care, and post-surgical nursing. This diverse background has provided her with the knowledge and adaptability needed to care for patients with a wide range of medical needs while consistently delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
A graduate of Essex Community College, Kristi has remained steadfast in her commitment to bedside nursing despite opportunities to pursue management or academic roles. Instead, she has chosen to remain where she believes she can make the greatest difference—at the patient’s bedside. In addition to providing direct patient care, she has served as a charge nurse and has mentored both newly licensed and experienced nurses as a preceptor, helping cultivate confidence, clinical skills, and professional growth among her colleagues.
“What brings me the most joy in nursing is seeing improvement in my patients and being able to bring peace and happiness to people who are in the worst position possible,” says Kristi. “That’s what keeps me striving to always do better. I love bedside nursing and have no desire to move into management or teaching because I truly love what I’m doing at the bedside. It brings me fulfillment to be there for patients in their most vulnerable moments, and knowing that I can make a difference in their experience is what makes this career so rewarding for me.”
Kristi’s dedication has earned her multiple DAISY Awards, one of nursing’s highest honors recognizing extraordinary compassionate care, as well as additional employee recognition awards from Johns Hopkins Hospital. Colleagues admire her calm demeanor in high-pressure situations, her strong clinical judgment, and her willingness to support both patients and fellow caregivers.
Driven by humility and continuous self-improvement, Kristi evaluates her own performance each day with the goal of becoming an even better nurse. Her unwavering compassion, resilience, and commitment to excellence have made her a trusted advocate for patients and an inspiring mentor for fellow healthcare professionals.
As she continues her career, Kristi Sanders remains dedicated to providing comfort, dignity, and hope to every patient she has the privilege to serve, reinforcing the vital role that exceptional bedside nurses play in today’s healthcare system.
