Calgary, Alberta Apr 26, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Rope skipping standout, Katelyn Starr won first place at the 2022 Rope Skipping Alberta Provincial tournament in the following categories: Single rope individual freestyle, Single rope speed, Single rope endurance, and the Overall Winner for the 16-18 (Female) age category.
Starr set a new Provincial speed record, skipping 92.5 right-foot counted jumps in 30 seconds, crushing her personal best, and earning the title of 30 Second Speed Alberta Record Holder. She set another Alberta record in the 16-18 (Female) age category Single Rope Endurance with 428 right-foot jumps in 3 minutes.
“I am honored to hold Alberta records and ecstatic to have achieved two personal best performances during the competition,” said Starr.
Starr and her teammate, Alyssa Peterson, also set a new Alberta record in Team Single Rope Power Relay, achieving 145.5 doubles in 1 minute.
Starr placed first overall at last year’s Canadian National Rope Skipping Championships IJRU Qualifier Competition, earning the honor of representing Canada at the 2021 International Jump Rope Union competition. She attends Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary, AB, and will be attending Stanford University this fall, where she plans to continue skipping with the Stanford Jump Rope Club.
Rope skippers from across Alberta met this month for the first in-person Provincial competition since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was located in Olds, AB, and was live-streamed online. In May 2022, Starr will represent Team Alberta at the Canadian National Rope Skipping Competition in Kamloops, British Columbia.
