Kansas City, Missouri Nov 11, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Edgerton.Life, Kansas City pancreatic cancer chapter, advocates for early detection and turns KC purple this month.

Advocation & education for early detection of the world’s toughest cancer takes center stage this November in Kansas City. You might be curious as to why Union Station, The Bartle Sky Stations, City Hall, The Kauffman Performing Arts Center, and 15 other landmarks around town are aglow in purple lights. That’s the work of the Kansas City Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, www.Edgerton.Life. World Pancreatic Cancer day is November 19th, and the urgent need for early detection and understanding the symptoms is key.

"Work is frantically going on around the world to develop early detection methods,” said
Board Member Jody Edgerton, of the Kansas City-based www.Edgerton.Life Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. “Our focus is to support and advocate or early detection before it hits Stage 4, which almost certainly means death in such a short period of time." Backed by 35 countries on six continents…. Light KC Purple Project stresses education Mike Coleman, a local Kansas City area insurance executive and volunteer with Light KC Purple Project says “With the COVID-19 outbreak, the KC area patient population that we have been serving and fighting for since our inception is counting on us more than ever to provide support and raise awareness and funds. It is vital amid the pandemic that we continue our work here in KC against pancreatic cancer…. the world’s toughest cancer. We are here to raise awareness and funding on November 19th for early detection, treatment, and research of this horrible disease. That is why over 15 KC area landmarks are lit purple in support.” Pancreatic cancer…. only a 10% survival rate. Pancreatic cancer, which only has around a 10% survival rate is one of the deadliest cancers, and over 74% of patients die within a year of diagnosis. There are currently a few early detection tools available and one of the key goals of www.edgerton.Life is for the research and treatment of this deadly disease. Notable celebrities like Steve Jobs, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and recently Alex Trebek have died from pancreatic cancer. The Light KC Purple Projects started on November 1st and will continue through World Pancreatic Cancer Day on November 19th.
