Jocelyn Delgado: Advancing Patient-Centered Care Through Home Health Physical Therapy

Experienced Physical Therapist at UNMH Home Healthcare Combines Expertise in Wound Care and Vestibular Therapy with a Compassionate, Collaborative Approach to Rehabilitation

  • Jocelyn Delgado: Advancing Patient-Centered Care Through Home Health Physical Therapy

Albuquerque, New Mexico May 11, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - Jocelyn Delgado, PT, is a highly respected physical therapist with more than 31 years of experience dedicated to helping patients regain mobility, independence, and confidence through compassionate, evidence-based care. Currently serving with UNMH Home Healthcare since 2017, Jocelyn has built a distinguished career centered on functional mobility, patient safety, and individualized rehabilitation in the home healthcare setting.

As part of New Mexico’s only Level 1 trauma center, University of New Mexico Hospital, Jocelyn works with a broad range of complex patient populations and diagnoses, continually expanding her clinical knowledge to ensure the highest standard of care. In addition to her role as a physical therapist, she serves as a wound care consultant for nursing and therapy staff—a position she has held for nine years. Her work in wound management includes recommending appropriate dressings, performing selective sharp debridement, and researching innovative interventions for challenging conditions such as venous stasis ulcers.

Jocelyn is particularly passionate about wound healing and the body’s natural ability to recover when given the proper environment and support. “It’s fascinating to see how the body can heal when you provide the right conditions and interventions,” she explains.

Beyond wound care, Jocelyn specializes in vestibular therapy, treating patients experiencing vertigo, dizziness, balance impairments, and persistent dizziness of unknown origin. Through targeted rehabilitation and patient education, she helps individuals restore stability and confidence in their everyday lives.

A graduate of The University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, Jocelyn also completed studies in Psychology and Pre-Physical Therapy at Western New Mexico University. Her professional experience includes nine years with Gentiva Health Services and prior work with Lovelace Outpatient Rehab, further strengthening her expertise across multiple rehabilitation settings.

Throughout her career, Jocelyn has remained deeply committed to a patient-first philosophy rooted in empathy, collaboration, and trust. “It’s just a desire to help people,” she says. “I always wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. It’s a very rewarding job, though also very emotionally taxing. I consider myself an old-school therapist, and in my schooling and teaching, it was always to provide care to allow our patients to reach maximal rehab potential.”

She believes one of the most rewarding aspects of home healthcare is the ability to address the whole patient rather than a single diagnosis. “In home care, I’m able to address different deficits—if someone comes in with hip pain but they’re suffering from dizziness, I can address both,” Jocelyn explains. “I focus on what they need, and I teach them as much as I can, looking for evidence-based interventions for diagnoses I’m not familiar with.”

Jocelyn is equally dedicated to mentoring younger therapists and sharing her decades of clinical knowledge. She emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care while encouraging the next generation of clinicians to prioritize quality treatment, empathy, and lifelong learning. Her unwavering commitment to empowering patients and supporting colleagues continues to make a lasting impact on the healthcare community throughout Albuquerque and beyond.
