Dubai, United Arab Emirates Nov 26, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Iqarus, the leading provider of integrated healthcare solutions for complex and demanding environments, has acquired TMH Medical Services (TMH) in a commercial deal that will see Iqarus double its geographical footprint in Afghanistan.
Tim Mitchell, CEO of Iqarus, said the strategic acquisition will position Iqarus as the preeminent provider of choice for managed medical compliance and healthcare delivery for governments, militaries, NGOs and prime contractors operating in Afghanistan.
He added: “THM’s services are very much aligned with those of Iqarus and this deal provides the opportunity for us to work together to deliver full medical coverage to our clients. Through the combined capabilities of TMH and Iqarus we are building an incredible platform for growth. We are now able to double our geographical footprint in Afghanistan, extend our offering in Somalia and embed our training and development programmes, as well as our Safety, Occupational Hygiene and Environmental Risk consultancy services, at a country level.”
Todd Husty, CEO of TMH welcomed the deal: “there is significant synergy between TMH’s focus on providing quality healthcare based on Western standards and the approach Iqarus is taking to build an end-to-end medical system to help clients meet their compliance and duty of care obligations. TMH has many years’ experience delivering employment physicals, including MOD 13 screenings, from the military air bases of Bagram and Kandahar; the timing couldn’t be better.”
Day-to-day operations at TMH’s medical facilities on Kandahar Airfield, Bagram Airfield and at the Baron Hotel in Kabul will continue under Tom Nagle who now assumes the role of Iqarus’ Country Manager, Afghanistan. Nagle will also oversee Iqarus’ existing medical centres based at three secure locations in Kabul.
Commenting on the deal, Nagle explained: “this marks a major boost for the clinical teams on the ground in Afghanistan and Somalia. To be part of this engaging, forward-looking business, which has an enviable reputation for operational excellence, is hugely exciting.”
Speaking on the eve of the deal, Martin Rudd, Iqarus’ Managing Director of Global Health Services, who will lead the integration of the two businesses, welcomed the TMH team into Iqarus and commented: “as well as creating the largest medical service provider in Afghanistan, we can now accelerate our expansion in East Africa. The additional geographical and managerial synergies created through the integration of the two companies will greatly enhance the breadth of our overall offering.”
Iqarus delivers primary care and life-saving medical capability globally. Current projects include the operation of a Role 2 damage control surgical facility for the European Training Mission within the secure confines of Mogadishu airport, damage control surgery for the Swedish Armed Forces in Mali, aeromedical evacuation capability for the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Mali, mobile damage control surgery for the EU Training Mission in Mali, and the day-to-day running of a Role 2 damage control surgical facility for the EU Training Mission in Somalia.
