‘Invited In’ Women Driven Short Film Highlighting Mental Health During the Pandemic Wraps Production Successfully

Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R. Apr 13, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - ‘Invited In’ directed by Yuyu Kitamura, featuring a women-driven creative team and cast has wrapped their film. Produced by Alicia Sing and filmed by Katie Lau, the three women spearhead the film centered around mental health, quarantine, and the need for human connection.

Yuyu Kitamura stars as Annie, around an anxious and timid freshman Annie, who finds herself mid pandemic realizing how isolated she has been her whole life. She stumbles upon Emmy (played by Haley Wong), the bright and “genuine” lifestyle influencer through the internet, and over Zooms a connection and friendship are formed.

The team was able to film whilst battling against COVID-19 outbreaks in Hong Kong safely and quickly with a minimized cast and crew.

The film has partnered with clothing brands that were founded by women in Hong Kong. Basics for Basics by Kayla Wong is an ethical clothing company that provides ready-to-wear clothes that adhere to sustainable and fair trade practices. Emma Wallace by Emma Wallace provides ready-to-wear fashionable pieces that deliver a seamless blend of Western and Eastern influences.

Additionally, Invited In has partnered with local mental health organisations such as KELY and MindHK to help spread the message of the film and work with the youth community to begin a deeper conversation regarding the destigmatization of mental health within Hong Kong.

Invited In has headed into its post-production stages with expected completion during the summer of 2021.
