Coinciding with international event Kochi Muziris Biennale 2018, of which we are Collateral Partners, we plan to hold an art, cultural, music, and culinary carnival called ‘The Water Town Festival 2018’ to celebrate the 450th year of the Jewish arrival and the Paradesi Synagogue in Kochi.
The Water Town Festival was conceptualized in the wake of the massive devastation that the recent floods brought upon Kerala. We propose to donate a meaningful part of the proceeds from the festival receipts to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The central idea of the festival is to revive and revitalize the heart of commerce that Kochi is by infusing the local cultural space with a series of performances of national and international standing.
The Festival, which will last from 12 December 2018 until 29 March 2019, will be spread across waterfront properties in Fort Kochi, Jew Town, The Grand Hyatt, and other key performative spaces in Kochi.
The Festival will have three main components:

ART & PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION :
The Art & Photography event will be a Collateral Event of the Kochi Muziris Biennale and will be held at Café Mocha and Caza Maria in Jew Town. It will feature 6-7 Indian and international photographers and photojournalists of repute. The photographers and artists shall conduct Creative Workshops, Portfolio Reviews, Speaker Sessions, Photography for Kerala Relief Fund, and Celebrity & Media Interactions.
JEW TOWN REVIVAL PROJECT :
One of the centerpieces of the Water Town Festival, where the quaint Jew Town will be revved up by a series of street performances, including music and magic, street art, graffiti, celebrity walkthroughs, media-covered street-corner discussions with state and civic leadership, and a dynamic makeover of signages and legends. The objective is to keep the town abuzz, leading to more footfall and business.
MUSIC & FOOD
We propose to host a series of headline performances by top national and international musicians, performers, and chefs across the above-mentioned venues in Kochi. We also propose to host a number of homegrown music bands who have added a lot of value to Kerala culture. As part of the bigger show, the chefs shall promote Kerala cuisine through a series of creative and interactive performances.

The essential objective of The Water Town Festival Proposal is to create a vibrant atmosphere of a carnival and celebration that will infuse the heritage city with new energies, perspectives, business, and lend an impetus to a bigger touristic footfall.
