New York City, New York Mar 8, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - The International HeadVolley Federation (IHVF) announced the continued international promotion and development of HeadVolley, a 1-on-1 sport inspired by football that focuses entirely on individual technique and ball control.
HeadVolley was first created in 2005 in the Banjica district of Belgrade as a street challenge between players testing their football skills against one another. Over time, the concept evolved into a structured sport with defined rules, organized match play, and an official governing body.
Unlike traditional football, HeadVolley removes the team element and places two players in direct competition. Each match is played as a one-on-one duel where every action depends on the player’s individual ability. Participants rely on timing, ball control, and precise shooting to score while preventing their opponent from doing the same.
Matches take place on a marked court that includes a restricted goalkeeper area designed to encourage long-range shots and technical execution. Supporters of the sport describe it as a concentrated form of football skill competition where creativity and precision play a decisive role.
The structure of HeadVolley is based on nine official techniques that define the primary attacking actions during a match. These include the Head Kick, Volley Kick, Left-Leg Free Kick, Right-Leg Free Kick, Indirect Kick, Lob Kick, Double Pass Kick, Counter Attack, and Penalty Kick. Each technique represents a specific method of creating scoring opportunities while maintaining the sport’s emphasis on technical execution.
Since its creation, HeadVolley has developed rulebooks, match records, and ranking systems under the guidance of the International HeadVolley Federation. The organization continues working to introduce the sport to new audiences and promote competitive play internationally.
