Indonesian Cultural Showcase Takes the Stage at Los Angeles VAPI Festival Through iDARE Initiative

Nicky Dare leads a cultural and community-driven initiative bringing Indonesian heritage, performance, and public engagement to thousands in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, California Apr 21, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - In a city recognized for its diversity yet often lacking a deeper cultural connection, a grassroots initiative is bringing Indonesian heritage to the forefront.

At the 2026 Valley Asian Pacific Islander (VAPI) Cultural Festival at Pierce College, iDARE® Inc. will present a dedicated Indonesian cultural showcase—introducing traditional performance, attire, and community engagement to an audience expected to reach 4,000 to 5,000 attendees.

The initiative is led by Nicky Dare, founder of iDARE® Inc., a Los Angeles-based nonprofit focused on preparedness, education, and community resilience. While widely recognized for her work in crisis readiness and leadership training, this initiative reflects a broader commitment—connecting communities through culture.

The program features Nusantara Dance, including Tari Piring (Plate Dance) from West Sumatra’s Minangkabau tradition, known for its intricate movements and cultural symbolism. The performance will be followed by a Baju Kebaya showcase, highlighting traditional Indonesian attire and its regional influences.

Supported by the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles (KJRI), the cultural segment represents a growing effort to ensure Indonesian heritage remains visible within broader Asian Pacific Islander programming.

Beyond the stage, iDARE® will also engage directly with the public through a community booth located at the main entrance of the festival. In collaboration with SoCal Prep, the booth will provide resources focused on situational awareness, preparedness, and public safety education.

Culture and preparedness are more connected than people realize,” Dare said. “When communities come together, understand each other, and share knowledge, they become stronger in every sense.

The Valley Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Festival, hosted in partnership with the West Valley Warner Center Chamber of Commerce, continues to serve as a platform for cultural expression, local engagement, and cross-community collaboration across Los Angeles.
