Hyderabad, Telangana Aug 9, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - An independent film production house from the UK, NEOSTAR CINEMA in association with SIXTHJUNE CINEMA of India has officially announced production of DORA (Working Title), a historical feature film chronicling the visionary life of Sir Arthur Cotton, the legendary 19th-century British Irrigation Engineer who played a transformative role in South India's agricultural history.
While period epics traditionally demand multi-million-dollar budgets, extensive location scouting, large physical sets and thousands of background extras, DORA is experimenting with a highly economical Hybrid-AI film production workflow. This new-era film is being Written and Directed by debutant filmmaker Pāvn Bhārdwaj.
The production is executing a highly focused, physical shoot in the United Kingdom capturing the intense dramatic performances, dialogue, intimate character micro-expressions, and core performances of its British cast in Ultra HD 8K resolution. Simultaneously, the production is leveraging advanced synthetic media pipelines and Artificial Intelligence to create the expansive, complex historical environments and the large-scale epic representations of the Godavari River and its Irrigation works. By incorporating custom facial consistency algorithms and the real-world HDRI lighting data captured on set, the production ensures character consistency and optical accuracy, seamlessly blending physical actor close-ups into synthetically generated cinematic environments.
"Technology should not replace the actor; it should expand the horizon of independent storytelling. Through this framework, we can honour the epic historical scale of Sir Arthur Cotton's legacy on a fraction of a traditional studio budget, keeping the human performance at the absolute centre of the frame" says Pāvn Bhārdwaj.
DORA is being produced in English, Telugu and Tamil languages bringing the story to audiences across multiple linguistic and cultural contexts and is currently progressing through its primary data capture preproduction phase in the UK, with post-production scheduled to conclude ahead of global independent film festival submissions.
