London, England Oct 24, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Independent animation creator FM Mohamed has announced the Kickstarter campaign for The OddGals, an original animated web series that brings together superhero adventure, comic book storytelling, comedy and coming of age themes in a distinctive animated world.
The series follows Caira, Felicity and Jaz, three very different 13 year old girls whose ordinary lives take an unexpected turn after an accident involving toxic comic book ink gives them extraordinary abilities. As they begin to understand their powers, the girls discover that becoming superheroes comes with responsibilities that extend far beyond their new abilities.
Each character develops a unique superhero identity inspired by the comics they love. Caira becomes Wednesday Witch, a spellcaster whose magical abilities are unpredictable and closely connected to her emotions. Felicity becomes Van Helsa, a vampire hunting antihero whose versatile bat can transform to support her in different situations. Jaz becomes Dial H For Heroine, a comic book enthusiast who can transform into a different classic style superhero from one day to the next.
The story expands beyond traditional superhero adventures as the three girls become connected to SH Comics, the fictional comic publishing company at the center of the series. Their new environment introduces workplace situations, unusual characters and additional challenges while the girls continue navigating school and the complexities of everyday teenage life.
A central conflict develops with Trina, a school rival who creates a corrupted comic and acquires reality altering abilities. Her actions introduce a growing threat and contribute to the larger mystery surrounding the recurring exposure to the toxic comic book material.
The OddGals is designed around the idea that superhero stories can explore more than action and extraordinary abilities. The series places friendship, creativity, individuality and the relationship between readers and the stories they love at the center of its narrative.
The project is intended to appeal to animation enthusiasts, comic book fans, audiences interested in superhero stories and viewers who appreciate character driven animated series. Its visual and narrative approach combines elements associated with superhero animation, magical girl storytelling, comic book culture and workplace comedy.
The current Kickstarter campaign is seeking £5,420 to support production of the pilot episode. Funding will contribute toward character animation and cleanup, background artwork, comic style visual effects, music, sound design, editing and post production.
The campaign also provides supporters with opportunities to participate in the development of the project through rewards such as name placement in the pilot credits and access to behind the scenes materials, including animatics, scripts and storyboards.

The Kickstarter campaign is currently open to supporters worldwide and is scheduled to conclude on August 28, 2026. Under Kickstarter's all or nothing funding model, the project must reach its £5,420 goal by the deadline for the pledged funds to be collected.
