Amesbury, Massachusetts Sep 1, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - The Hockey East Association (HE) www.hockeyeastonline.com recently pulled up its roots in Wakefield and moved to Amesbury to occupy space within the CI Works www.ciworks.us building. Hockey East, the premier college hockey conference in the country, is home to an 11-team Division I men’s league founded in 1984 and a 10-team women’s league which began play in 2002-03. The men’s league has won 10 NCAA championships, including the 2021 champion Massachusetts Minutemen. Since 1999, Hockey East has won eight men’s NCAA championship titles with 17 NCAA Championship Game appearances, while placing 28 teams in the Frozen Four and 74 teams in the NCAA Tournament. Overall, Hockey East has sent 118 teams to the men’s NCAA Tournament since its inaugural season, more than any other conference in that span. Hockey East is home to 11 Hobey Baker winners and four Patty Kazmaier winners.

This is a great connection with Amesbury, Massachusetts, and the rich tradition of hockey history in the city – particularly the Amesbury Maples organization, which is the country’s oldest amateur hockey organization. The move presents a great opportunity for Amesbury to explore and expand its rich hockey history and gain additional visibility through Hockey East’s brand association and marquee events.

Hockey East intends to eventually be relocated in a new space in the Maples Crossing www.maplescrossing.com, where the league will be able to take advantage of brand-new facilities that include a 3,000-seat hockey arena.

CI Works is based upon a flexible lease terms business model, so when Maples Crossing approached CI Works about a lease for Hockey East to move them to Amesbury rather than extending their lease for an uncertain amount of time, the league teamed up with CI Works for its new office space. CI Works welcomed Hockey East to Amesbury with a flexible lease term based upon availability of new office space within Maples Crossing and a 90-day notice period once construction is completed.

“This is our business model,” said Bob Obrien, CEO of CI Works.  “We offer flexible leasing options to small companies and entities that work for them and offer flexibility in terms that achieve their needs and requirements first, and then work within that framework to finalize a lease.  We think that it is a good visibility move for the City of Amesbury to have Hockey East located here, and a long-term win for both the City and Maples Crossing, so an easy decision on our part.  The Hockey East team are all great individuals and we think it will be fun to interact with them as a tenant and there will be good interaction and involvement with other tenants and the community here.”

Maples Crossing is set to be an excellent destination for Hockey East both in terms of visibility and attraction, but also as to events planned at Maples.  CI Works is thrilled to be part of the equation and will ultimately benefit through a ‘more visible and identifiable’ Amesbury.
