Aug 13, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Having been popular among collectors and investors, coins and antique watches are not only of historical background but also of a high potential for appreciation. After the Spring convention in March, the Hongkong International Coin Convention & Antique Watch Fair (HICC), which debuted in 1982, will take place again in August, earning its place as a key date on the global collectibles and alternative investment vehicles calendar.
The stunning potential of appreciation
Brand, rarity, model, discontinued or not are some crucial factors to the price of watches. The watch with the most visible rise in recent years must be Patek Philippe 5976, which its price doubled in a year. In fact, the value of an investment for coins should not be ignored either. The Guangdong Kuang-hsü Dollar (7 Mace 3 Candareens) in 1889 was sold for USD 80,000 in 2015. In June 2019, the coin value has reached a new record to USD 228,000, representing a two-fold increase.
As an exhibitor, a trading platform and a convention of coins and antique watches, HICC, founded in 1982, is taking place from 22 to 24 August at the same location in the past 37 years – the Holiday Inn Golden Mile Hong Kong.
The Diversified Convention
Looking back to the Spring convention in March, there are more than a hundred exhibitors from over 20 regions and countries, including Hong Kong, Mainland China, USA, Japan, Australia and so on, with an increase of nearly 10% in a number of exhibitors. The convention is separated into Watches and Coin show hall, with jewelry, vintage items and antiques also available. There were also other diversified contents, like on-site grading service provided by coin and paper money grading company. Having recorded over 2,000 visits in 3 days convention, it is believed that the number of visits in the Summer convention will reach a new height.
