Cardiff, Wales Jan 3, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Hemmels, a renowned leader in the restoration of vintage Mercedes-Benz SL motorcars, today announces the opening of Hemmels Heritage Centre Services. The new initiative will make available the company’s bespoke restoration facilities and its team of craftspeople to private collectors of Mercedes-Benz classics globally.
In addition to offering the full range of mechanical and body repair services, the new Heritage Service Centre will provide selective restoration work. Full hand-made interiors including leather seats, dashboard and door coverings, and new carpeting are available including installation by Hemmels craftspeople. Soft-tops, roof liners, sun visors and all the fine upholstery requirements are also offered, complete with installation. Specialist re-chroming for the many exterior and interior components, as well as full painting services, is available.
Some specialist options are offered such as air-conditioning, high fidelity in-car entertainment systems and stainless steel exhaust systems. Hemmels has also developed an exclusive Engine Performance Enhancement upgrade for the W113 series which provides more horsepower and greater responsiveness from a stand-still start or when overtaking.
The new Heritage Centre Services will complement the company’s main business of restoring Mercedes-Benz SL classics to be better-than-new. Offering a new car buying experience, Hemmels’ clients can order a Mercedes-Benz classic car in the colours of their choice along with bespoke options and preferences. Hemmels then restores the cars according to the exacting standards of its trademarked Neugeboren (“newborn”) Process where every car is fully dismantled and rebuilt from its bare metal beginnings over a 52 week period. Like a new car purchase, full 12-month parts and labour warranty is included along with servicing options.
In 2019 Mercedes-Benz World selected two Hemmels restorations for display at its facility in Weybridge, the UK including a 190SL Roadster and 280SL Pagoda, both of which are prominently featured in the main reception area.
The company will be extending its worldwide collection and delivery service to clients of the Heritage Service Centre thus enabling owners of Mercedes-Benz classics from around the globe to benefit.
