Gaur, Narayani Oct 6, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - In Nepal child labour is illegal yet even politicians own brick factories that regularly employ children as young as 6 years old.
A half-hour documentary for VICE World News that has just been broadcast, is a result of a collaboration between a UK charity, Our Sansar, and the British Award-winning journalist Sahar Zand.
Following a year-long undercover investigation, this documentary exposes 6 brick factories in Southern Nepal, two of which are owned by high-ranking local politicians, employing hundreds of children, some as young as 5 years old. The work is dangerous and exploitative. The film ends with a big rescue operation run by our charity, which involves getting the children out of the factories and into schools, whilst supporting their families along the way.
