The 7th Bayou Soul Youth Literary Conference hosted by Actor Lamman Rucker, goes Virtual!

Baton Rouge, Louisiana Nov 12, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Packed with the same great content, same star power, and now available worldwide, the 7th Bayou Soul Youth Literary Conference hosted by Actor Lamman Rucker goes virtual. Annually, the Bayou Soul Youth Literary Conference takes place in the capital of Louisiana on the campus of Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC), however, this year’s event will be in a digital format, featuring masterclasses, live Zoom sessions, and more through the BRCC student platform. This annual conference will take place over the course of three days from November 18th-20th, 2020.

The Annual Bayou Soul Youth Literary Conference (BSYLC) creates opportunities that extend to high school students all over the world and aims to promote reading, literacy and education with the intention to bring youth closer to the arts, apart from offering valuable information about college and trades.

This year’s theme: Healing through Storytelling; accurately sets the stage not only for the times we are facing today due to COVID and social injustice but for the type of content that you will see at this year’s BSYLC. Over the duration of this three-day event, attendees will have a chance to sit in on several panels such as: Spiritual Mental Health and Wellness in the Age of COVID and Equality Panel, Filmmaker’s Corner, and Writing through Trauma. As an extra special treat, the conference will also include never seen before footage of BSYLC veterans Actors Danny Glover and Lance Gross. The conferences’ founder Professor Clarence Nero, is proud to welcome back BSYLC Ambassador Actor Lamman Rucker to host this year’s event with live Zoom sessions, prerecorded material, master classes and breakout sessions with renowned celebrities, speakers, and authors like Anita Johnson and Monique Kelley, American Idol star Jordan Dorsey, young Broadway singer Skye Turner (Aretha Franklin Story: Respect), Mayor Sharon Weston Broome, and entrepreneur and motivational speaker Ashley K. Shift. Returning to this year’s conference by popular demand, we have Louisiana’s own, Reality Stars Toya Johnson (VH1’s T.I. & Tiny’s Family Hustle) and Reginae Carter (VH1’s Growing Up Hip Hop). Without question, one of the highlights of this year’s conference will be behind the scenes footage of the short film Voices from the Bayou and the participation of Willie D. Burton, two-time OSCAR winner, who directed and the film’s producer Dorez Douglas in the Filmmaker’s Corner. Burton and Douglas will host a live Zoom session for those interested in breaking into film and television. To register for the exclusive Zoom sessions and to attend the conference, please visit www.bswliteraryconference.com.

True to BSYLC tradition, high school students will be able to participate in the annual Dr. Maya Angelou Oratorical Contest where the winner will be awarded a scholarship. The award will be presented by members of the family of Maya Angelou; her son Guy Johnson and niece Sabunmi Woods.
