Gary Moore Belfast Statue Project Now Underway

Dundonald, Belfast Feb 28, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - Fans of Northern Ireland guitar legend Gary Moore will be happy to hear the great news that plans are underway for a statue to honor the guitar legend in his hometown of Belfast.

Renowned Irish sculptor Sean MacCarthy from Cork City has been appointed as the sculpture artist for the Gary Moore statue for Belfast project. Sean is a specialist in figurative sculpture (statue art) and has an impressive portfolio of many outstanding works over his extensive career including the Christy Ring statue at the Cork Airport and the Bill Clinton statue at Ballybunion Co.Kerry.

The statue will be meticulously crafted in several stages, which will allow work to commence as soon as possible.

Fundraising for the long-awaited memorial statue in Gary’s hometown will be officially launched on Friday, April 12th, 2019 with a very special memorial show at the iconic Belfast Empire Music Hall.

“Gig for Gary” will feature four impressive bands in what promises to be a captivating blues/rock memorial show.

First up to open the night at 8 pm is a well-known Belfast band “Sam Davidson’s Taste” with a great mix of Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher tracks. Rory Gallagher was one of Gary’s favorite guitarists.

Next to take the stage will be Dublin’s Gerry Quigley and his band The Nomadic Druids, rocking the stage with captivating original instrumental Celtic prog rock greatly inspired by Gary, with some surprise Gary Moore tunes in the mix.

Headlining the show is Belfast legend and Thin Lizzy founding guitarist Eric Bell and his band The Eric Bell Trio who will rock out a special selection of songs including Thin Lizzy tunes and of course Eric’s own “Song for Gary” released in 2016. Eric Bell Trio will feature Romek Parol on drums and Dave Wintour on bass.

Last but not least will be the amazing Patricia Moore (UK) band featuring rhythm master extraordinaire Jimmy Howlett (UK) on drums, Albert on guitar, Frank on bass and Sharon on keys.   Patricia and her band will bring you a powerful and soulful mix of classic Gary Moore tracks, sung from the heart for her dear brother.

The encore of the night will see all bands invited back on stage for an epic improvised blues jam, prepare to be captivated!

Gig for Gary Belfast 2019 will mark an exciting milestone for Gary Moore fans around the world, and forms just one part of the fundraising strategy designed to allow work to commence on the statue as soon as possible.
