From the Mists of Time by Anthony John Davis A Powerful Novel Where War, Aviation, and Family Legacy Collide

Tomah, Wisconsin Mar 4, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - From the Mists of Time is a richly layered historical novel spanning from the late 1930s through World War II and into the late 1960s, blending military history, family legacy, aviation, and a subtle supernatural thread that unites past and present.

Set against the turbulent backdrop of wartime Britain and its aftermath, the novel follows a fictional family shaped by duty to country, the heartbreak of loss, and the enduring bonds of kinship. Central to the story is a particular aircraft preserved by chance in a forgotten wartime hangar in an English field that becomes a powerful symbol linking generations. As history and memory intertwine, the narrative introduces a supernatural dimension in which time folds in on itself, allowing a son and his deceased father to reunite across the veil of years.

About the Book

From the Mists of Time explores the sacrifices made by ordinary families during extraordinary times. Through military service, personal tragedy, and moments of rediscovered connection, the novel captures the emotional cost of war alongside the quiet miracles of remembrance and reconciliation. With its unique fusion of historical realism and spiritual reflection, the story invites readers to experience history not just as a sequence of events, but as a living legacy carried forward through family, memory, and shared purpose.

About the Author

Anthony John Davis is a retired Chartered Engineer with a lifelong passion for aviation and history. He trained as a Private Pilot before advancing to become a Commercial Pilot, Flying Instructor, and Examiner. He also served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch), working with Air Cadets as a Squadron Commanding Officer.

An owner and pilot of a World War II–vintage aircraft, specifically a type used by the British Army as an Air Observation Post, he brings rare authenticity to the aviation elements of his writing. His deep interest in military and social history, including genealogy, has informed both his fiction and his historical research. He has written a forthcoming history of the 2nd Northamptonshire Yeomanry, the regiment in which his father served during World War II.

From the Mists of Time is Davis’s debut novel, uniting his professional background, personal heritage, and lifelong fascination with wartime aviation into a compelling work of historical fiction.

Anthony lives with his wife of fifty-seven years and is the proud father of four children, grandfather to six, and great-grandfather to seven. One of his sons continues the family’s aviation legacy as a commercial pilot and aircraft engineer.

Inspiration Behind the Book

The novel was inspired by the author’s historical research into his father’s regiment during the Normandy campaign following D-Day in 1944, combined with his own aviation experiences. These include participation in the UK Tiger Club’s “Dawn to Dusk” flying competitions and flying a World War II–era Auster aircraft during the 50th anniversary D-Day commemorations.

London Bookfair 2026

Anthony will attend the event, and his book will be displayed by Prime Seven Media in the upcoming London book expo, on March 10-12, 2026.

A Message to Readers

“I hope readers will feel the excitement and tension that aviators experience when facing flying challenges, as well as the deep sense of family continuity that unfolds across generations in this story. Above all, my aim is to entertain while opening minds to a side of history that is often overlooked in mainstream military writing.”
