Atlanta, Georgia Oct 31, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - We Create Tech (WCT) proudly announces that its Founder and CEO, Shana “Digital” Sanders, has been named Woman of the Year in the Small Business / Emerging category at the 25th annual Women in Technology (WIT) Awards.
Each year, the WIT Awards celebrate women and girls in Georgia who have made significant contributions to the technology industry. As WIT shared, “Our next group of WIT Award winners are pushing boundaries, building bridges, and leading with purpose. From rising stars to seasoned leaders, they’re proving what’s possible—at every stage of the journey.” (mywit.org)
For Sanders, this recognition marks a milestone not just for her, but for every student and community member connected to the We Create Tech mission.
“Accepting this award means more than personal recognition,” said Sanders. “It represents every young person discovering their voice, creativity, and confidence in technology. We’re building an ecosystem where access, representation, and innovation aren’t exceptions—they’re expectations.”
Founded in 2022, We Create Tech is reimagining how underrepresented and underserved students experience technology and prepare for future careers. The organization’s initiatives include:
• TechRise — A community for high school and college students and young-adult career changers. Members gain access to curated tools, resources, and opportunities tailored to their goals. Through leadership, peer collaboration, and mentorship of younger learners, TechRise chapters champion access, representation, and innovation in tech.
• CreativX Lab — A hands-on, no-homework tech exploration series for high school students (grades 9–12). In under 50 hours, students gain exposure to high-demand career pathways in UX & Web Design, Digital Media, Coding, AI, and more.
• Scholarship and Certification Programs — Providing students with scholarships for Google Career Certificates (grow.google/certificates) and CompTIA certifications (comptia.org) that build industry-recognized credentials.
Through these programs, Sanders and her team are addressing the realities faced by students from underserved and underrepresented communities—ensuring they not only enter tech spaces but thrive within them.
“This award reinforces our belief that when we invest in access and representation, we change lives,” said Sanders. “The future of tech looks like the world we live in—diverse, creative, and full of possibility.”
