London, England Aug 6, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - MediaBias News, a free news comparison site, has launched with a single premise: put the left, centre and right accounts of the same story on one page and let readers see the difference themselves.
Each story page lists every outlet that covered it, the political spectrum split across those outlets, and three scores: Trust, measuring corroboration and evidence; Craft, measuring context and the separation of fact from comment; and Hype, measuring presentation against substance. A recent story on explosions at Dubai's Jebel Ali industrial area drew 32 sources and a Trust score of 64. Another, on calls for refugee status for Jewish Canadians, drew 23 sources with a spectrum split of 73% left, 27% centre and no right-of-centre coverage at all.
The site takes an unusual position on bias ratings. It carries ratings from AllSides, Ad Fontes Media and Media Bias/Fact Check, and publishes all three separately rather than averaging them.
"They frequently disagree with each other," the methodology page states, "and we publish every rating we hold for an outlet rather than averaging them into one number that would conceal it."
MediaBias News is built and run by one person. "I'm an open source developer, not a journalist," said Valentin-Adrian Neagu, its founder. "I've read every story in three or four places since I was a kid, and I wanted it on one page. I built it for myself, and it turns out a fair number of people read that way."
The site is transparent about its use of AI. Language models assess the coverage and draft the summaries; human editors write the model instructions, set the rejection thresholds and carry the accountability. There are no invented bylines and no original reporting — every story links out to the outlets that did the work.
Its methodology page is unusually candid about limits: "The scores are judgements, not measurements. Two careful editors would disagree at the margins, and so would two runs of a model."
