Upon establishment of Westacton Inc. (Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan, CEO Taro Noguchi), all our employees from the three countries have been working remotely. Considering a tremendous outbreak of disease and the necessity of lockdown globally, we decided to open our tool to the public for free.
HomyWorks is a remote work tool that enables everyone to see each other through a browser to create an intimate office atmosphere. It keeps track of employee's attendance, which may be a concern for any management. We aim to create a comfortable remote working environment without sacrificing productivity.
■Why do we provide "HomyWorks" for free?
Due to the global pandemic, many companies have no choice but to let employees work from home. We hear much concern such as potential communication breakdown, how to track attendance, and so on. All employees have been working remotely from the establishment of Westaction Inc., and we believe there are more advantages than disadvantages. It is more than our pleasure to share our experience with the public, hoping the society to adapt, diverse way of working.
■What is "HomyWorks"?
HomyWorks is a web application developed by Westaction Inc. It enables all employees to see other colleagues' image. The image will be updated periodically and automatically. Therefore you know who is on the desk and who is not. If you are not comfortable being seen, you can blur your image.
Of course, there are easy-to-start video conference or voice call. You can even talk to a colleague, like you are using a walkie-talkie by pressing the horn button.
The technical requirement is not high. All you need is an internet connection (which doesn't have to be fast), browse, PC, or smartphone with a camera.
