Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R. Dec 22, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Fonus Inc. announces today the start of a partnership with YuanTel (Beijing) Telecommunications Technology Co., Ltd ("YuanTel"), a leading mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in China. Additionally, Fonus has also commenced a partnership with a mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE) based in Hong Kong, which unfortunately Fonus cannot yet disclose due to non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in place.
These two companies combined will provide Fonus the ability to access both China Unicom’s and Softbank’s cellular services in China and Japan. Furthermore, Fonus SIM cards will also be able to access cellular services in countries and territories where the two aforementioned MNOs have roaming agreements in place. This ultimately provides Fonus’ customers the ability to roam worldwide in 226 countries and territories.
On an unrelated note, Fonus has appointed Vito Chan as a new member onto its Board of Directors. Chan has had many years of experience in the global telecommunications industry, starting in 1999, when he joined iBasis as a Regional Director. Between 2003 and 2005, he was a Director at Teleglobe, which ultimately became Tata Communications ULC, a subsidiary of Tata Group which acts as an international carrier based in Montreal, Quebec. Subsequently, Chan became a Deputy Director for Carrier Business at IDT Telecom Asia Pacific Limited (“IDT”).
Most recently, he became Vice President of Global Voice & Carrier Relations for CITIC Telecom International, a subsidiary of CITIC Group Corporation Ltd. (“CITIC”), which, as of 2019, is China's biggest state-run conglomerate with one of the largest pools of foreign assets in the world.
