Los Angeles, California Mar 7, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) has been a hot spot for indie film premieres because they consistently showcase the best, emerging talents in the film industry. The event helps fledgling filmmakers from all over the world gain recognition for their works. Recently, The Sad Poet, a short film directed by Andrew Acedo and edited by talented Yixia Li, had its world premiere in front of a substantial crowd.
“We had over 400 guests at the screening and the venue was packed,” said Yixia Li. “The film has received so much positive feedback that we plan to continue the festival tour.”
The Sad Poet follows the life of a despondent man who falls in love with a morose poet. The story unfolds as the man’s personal relationship changes-- as does his views on perceived reality. There is quite a bit going on in 26 minutes, and Yixia’s editing work on the movie is an integral part of its success. Many do not realize the amount of footage shot in the process of creating a short film. The director, crew, and actors were all key to the success of The Sad Poet, but editing is a vital element that can make or break a film.
Originally hailing from China, Yixia Li found his passion for filmmaking after graduating from college. Moreover, he found his niche in editing. His education and career led him on a journey from China to Japan, and finally to the United States where he resides now. His travels across the globe and opportunities to work with many filmmakers worldwide, have given Yixia a unique perspective as a filmmaker.
Yixia immersed himself into the art of filmmaking with the goal of experiencing every aspect of the process. During his study at Loyola Marymount University, he took the roles of Producer, Director, G&E crew, Editor and Sound. It soon became apparent that he had an extraordinary talent for Editing.
Yixia is currently editing on his first feature film project, which will come out later this year. His work attracts a colorful list of productions including narratives, commercial, music video, brand content, TV spots and educational videos.
