Everything to Know About The first Longest Stainless Steel Bridge of Himanchal Pradesh

2nd Longest Stainless Steel Bridge of India I Benefits of Stainless Steel Bridge I 3rd access to Leh ladakh

Mumbai, Maharashtra Jan 6, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - Soon Himachal Pradesh is going to have its first longest steel bridge. Recently Prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Atal tunnel earlier this month and now soon barsi bridge will be inaugurated as its construction has been completed. Barsi bridge will ease the flow of traffic. Barsi bridge is constructed by the Border Road Organization (BRO). This bridge is constructed at the altitude of 11020 ft over the Bhaga river, near darcha in Himachal Pradesh. Darcha is situated in the Lahaul region.

Constructing the barsi bridge never seemed easy as construction companies of BRO faced many difficulties at the time of construction. Barsi bridge is 360 meters long and it almost took 10 years to complete its construction. 70 road construction companies of border road organizations came together to construct the barsi bridge. They had limited working season in their hand as this region where the bridge is constructed is situated in a snowy hill area. They had difficulties constructing this bridge during the monsoon and winter season.

This bridge is situated on Leh Manali highway, which will provide 3rd access to Leh Ladakh. Earlier there were two routes to reach Leh from Manali. 1st one is from Shree Nagar via Kargil but this route is very near to loc. 2nd one is from Leh to Manali which is mainly used by bikers for an adventurous road trip as this route is very raw and tough to commute. This route passes through major hill areas as such this route remains closed during the winter season. Barsi bridge will become the easy, fastest, and safest route for commuters and army personnel especially.

Barsi bridge is made of steel with a superstructure of steel beams and five pillars have been erected in the river to give the required support to the bridge. Stainless steel provides excellent strength to construction as such this bridge will have a huge load carrying capacity and it will help locals, army officials, and others to have smooth and easy transportation. Stainless Steel provides the best corrosion resistance properties and it is very cost-effective.

Let's deep dive to know more benefits of stainless steel material for bridge construction.

Nowadays, Stainless Steel is being used in the majority of constructions. The Use of stainless steel material for construction has increased phenomenally. Stainless Steel possesses many features such as strength, toughness, exceptional corrosion resistance properties, durability, appealing aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness. These are the reasons behind the increasing demand for stainless steel for bridge construction.

The construction of Stainless Steel Bridge has increased in the last two decades. Earlier stainless steel material was expensive, and it used to act as support material. After the latest advancement, its price started decreasing, and its usage for bridge construction started increasing, and therefore stainless steel has become a primary bridge construction material.

Stainless Steel is majorly used for structural components, Such as cables, beams, and pylons. Stainless Steel offers the best corrosion resistance properties in the marine environment. Stainless Steel grade 1.4462 provides the best corrosion resistance to chlorides. Stainless Steel gives a more aesthetic appeal to construction, it is also a very cost-effective material, and it also Provides Long durability. These are the prime reasons for choosing stainless steel for modern bridge construction.

Grade 1.4462 Duplex Steel contains the feature of both ferritic and austenitic stainless steel, As such, it provides high corrosion resistance properties and also provides higher strength to the construction. Most of the bridges are constructed using grade 1.4462 duplex stainless steel. Lean duplex stainless steel is also one of the most used stainless steel grades as it is available at the most affordable price compared to other Grades, and it also provides the best corrosion resistance properties. It is one of the most demanding duplex steel grades in the market as it also provides needed strength to structure and improved corrosion resistance properties.

In conclusion, Over the last few years, Stainless steel has become the primary material for bridge construction, as It gives high strength to the structure, Ensures long time durability, Provides better corrosion resistance properties in the marine environment, and it comes at the most affordable price. It has been the primary choice of engineers for bridge construction, and it will remain the primary choice for engineers in the future too.
