Etihad ESCO, Dubai Green Fund, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy meet to discuss the country’s sustainability initiatives

Latest retrofitting projects and targets for 2023 announced

Dubai, United Arab Emirates Feb 15, 2023 (Issuewire.com)  - Over 250  high-level decision-makers attended the 8th RetrofitTech MENA Summit and Awards on 14 - 15 February 2023 at the Address Dubai Marina. The Summit is under the patronage of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, endorsed by Dubai Green Fund, and is hosted and strategically endorsed by Etihad ESCO.

The Summit started with a welcome remark from Hassan Younes, Co-CEO and Founder of GRFN. Proceedings opened with a keynote speech from Dr. Waleed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Etihad ESCO announcing the latest retrofitting projects and targets for 2023 including 600 buildings of Dubai Municipality, 80 buildings of Dubai Police, and many more.

While Pinaki Aich, CEO of Dubai Green Fund addressed the role of green financing for retrofit projects in the region.

During the mid-morning session Yasser Ahmed, Director of Digital Buildings & Software for MEA, Schneider Electric discussed how advanced building management software can supercharge greener cities of the future.

Technology presentations on achieving net-zero buildings through digital innovations, efficient energy management in commercial and industrial buildings, and incorporating smart retrofitting to decarbonize the built environment were also addressed by the key experts from Siemens Middle East, ABB Electrification, and Enova.

The first day rounded up with discussions on energy efficiency through the implementation of renewable energy technologies, reviving the GCC’s aging buildings for a net zero future, and revolutionizing cooling in the UAE through Cooling-as-a-Service (Caas) with speakers from GRFN, Cundall, Taka Solutions, RSB, and Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency.

The second day of the Summit featured two exclusive panel discussions and world-class presentations from the leading experts from Supreme Council of Energy, Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, GORD, KEO Global Marketing, DMCC, WSP, Dubai Airports, TAKA Solutions, and more with discussions focused on the net-zero mission to help drive up deep retrofits in the region.

During the morning panel session, Asif Zahid, Sales Director of Ledvance moderated the discussion on saving potentials in simple lighting retrofitting and beyond lighting along with the panelists Pradeep Singh, Assistant Director for Business Development, Etihad ESCO, and Eng. Roaa Al-Khatib, Senior Lighting Designer from a Government Entity.

The second-panel session discussed scaling up overall sustainability through energy efficiency implementations with panelists including Zaki Ahmed Mohammed, Director of Sustainability Advisory, GORD; Amel Chadli, Vice President - Digital Energy & Software MEA region, Schneider Electric; and M. EL Haouari Mohamed, Director of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency.
