New York City, New York Mar 10, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Emily is a student nurse who is affiliated with Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Sentara Leigh Hospital (Norfolk, Virginia), as well as Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center (Mechanicsville, Virginia). Motivated by learning, she wakes up every morning knowing that she gets to learn something new, whether it be at school or in the clinical setting.
Having always had an interest in helping others, Emily excelled in math and science in high school and decided to give nursing a try in her junior year. Her instructors helped her find her passion for forensics and discover what a forensic nurse did.
At the age of 16, she signed up for a certified nursing assistant (CNA) course and obtained her license shortly after. There, she found her passion for the healthcare field. She worked as a CNA until she graduated from high school, after which she chose to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Old Dominion University, where she is expected to graduate in 2021.

To advance her efforts, she remains a member of the National Student Nurses Association and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She also holds a certificate in Basic Life Support.
A student nurse is a student in a post-secondary educational program that leads to certification and licensing to practice nursing, usually as part of a program administered by a nursing school. The title ‘nursing student’ usually applies to students enrolled in a registered nurse or practical nurse program.
Among her philanthropic endeavors, Emily has volunteered with CARITAS, Cool Spring Child Care Center, and Bon Secours. She is also a registered bone marrow donor and was lucky enough to match and follow through with the procedure recently.
