Question: Where were you the moment you decided to be an actor?

Answer: The moment I decided to be an actor I was with my college buddies and classmates on a trip in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The acting bug has lived within me for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until the end of my sophomore year at Ohio University that I started thinking more for myself, recognizing my true desires, taking life more seriously, and giving breath to my dreams rather than society's "realistic and safe" approach. I spent the remainder of my college years finishing my degree in Exercise Physiology and flirting with grad schools, but most importantly discovering the true meaning to life and happiness. Whilst on the trip in Hilton Head a few weeks before graduation, a revelation overcame me and I knew there was no other life for me but to be the next star actor in Hollywood.

Question: As an actor do you approach a role any differently than you did five years ago?

Answer: Absolutely. Five years ago I was more concerned with the dialogue and my lines specifically. It was more about having the memorization down and the moment minutes and seconds before my scene just to hopefully impress and book auditions. Now, the lines are the last thing I focus on. My approach now surrounds the psychology of the story and character. The little everyday mannerisms, emotions and aspects that shape an individual. I engulf my brain through all waking hours in the emotional aspect and real life experiences that I can relate to with the character, as well as my relationships, interactions and reactions with all the other characters in the script. It's all about the character arch through the beginning, middle and end of a story and how I can bring myself into the character. By learning to bring myself into the character, I find more than anything my approach has evolved into more of a bigger picture approach where I dissect and become the character day in and day out, mentally and effortlessly that is, creating an entire history and purpose to the character; by just focusing on what is being said one scene at a time is where I find it's too easy to get stuck in the superficiality of a role. Once I have the psychological aspect, tasks, and goals of the character engraved into my bones the lines and dialogue just flow naturally. Basically, I had to learn to stop acting before I found myself as an actor.

Question: As an actor what attracted you to the Role of David in your latest feature film, The Private Eye?

Answer: I was attracted to David right from the get go. I saw so many similarities in my personal self to David, from the hippy therapist attributes to the emotional roller coaster I all too often find myself engulfed in. I will never say easy, David was my biggest challenge yet as an actor, but with David, I learned the true meaning of less is more when it comes to acting and developing a character; and through my years of prep for this role, I found that as long as I trust the process and trust myself, then all I had to do was show up to set each day and everything would fall into place and the character would take care of himself.

Question: What advice would you give a young actor?

Answer: Nothing worthwhile in life comes easy. If you are confident this is the life for you, keep putting in the work, keep putting yourself out there, make the necessary sacrifices, keep growing, stay open minded and flexible, make short and long term goals, don’t sell yourself short, create your own content, learn and grow from your mistakes and failures, do something everyday to better yourself, keep a positive attitude, never give up, and most importantly enjoy every step of the way!
