In Support of Liberty; Philadelphia and the Greek War of Independence tells the story of introducing the little-known history of Philadelphia’s support and ties to the Greek War of Independence, and highlight how Phil- Hellenes in America embraced and echoed Greek values during that period. Narrated by Greek-American Professor of History, Alexander Kitroeff, the film introduced the viewer to early 19th-century Philadelphia by utilizing a collection of montages and interviews. The Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia is currently led by Dr. Elias Anthony Iliadis (President) and Chris Kotsakis (Vice President). GAHSP is a volunteer-run organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Hellenism and the Greek-American experience in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley, with the goal of reconnecting youth and adults to their common heritage.
In Support of Liberty; Philadelphia and the Greek War of Independence has been directed and produced by Eleftherios Kostans. Kostans is a multi-award nominated and winner content creator, director, and producer. He is the Vice President of the Award Winning Production Company 69th Street Productions. Kostans is a veteran international photographer who has worked for a variety of organizations, agencies, and publications. His work has appeared in Time, Newsweek, and People's magazines. He worked as a contract photographer for the Philadelphia Inquirer for 10 years and was a correspondent for Sipa-Press Agency in New York, where he covered regional, national, and global news. As a staff photographer at Swarthmore College, his magazine work was recognized by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. His work in the Balkans and the Black Sea was featured on the BBC and exhibited at the Greek Consulate in NYC. Eleftherios is the media representative of the Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia, and a co-founder of Cosmos Philly, a community-based Web TV and media program.
Jon Gursha and Peter Greene manage and operate the Golden State Film Festival. Mr. Gursha and Mr. Greene are both highly regarded film industry professionals who have extensive experience discovering and assisting emerging filmmaking talent to achieve professional success. Mr. Gursha is the Festival Director, and Mr. Greene is the Program Director. The Golden State Film Festival is intended to provide a platform for emerging independent filmmakers to showcase their work. It is a competitive event, with exhibitors and prize winners benefiting from fantastic exposure in front of a large audience of enthusiastic film fans and high-level industry decision-makers. Filmmakers from all over the world are welcome to enter, and both short and feature-length works will be considered.
