New York City, New York Aug 24, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Asia Initiatives (AI), a global nonprofit organization that leverages social capital to promote sustainable development, will host its 17th Annual Gala at Tribeca 360° this October 18th at 6:00 PM. During the event, Eighth United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will present the second annual Award for Women’s Empowerment to Professor Chelsea Clinton of the Clinton Foundation, for her work as a leader in women’s empowerment.
The award was instituted in Secretary-General Ban’s name in recognition of his invaluable contributions to women’s issues, including his role in the creation of the UN Women department, the establishment of the first High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment, the reduction of the gender wage gap within the UN and the increase in the number of women in senior management at the UN by over forty percent during his time in office.
