Kelowna / Okanagan, British Columbia Oct 5, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Ecora Engineering & Resource Group Ltd. today announces the acquisition of Cortex Consultants Inc., a BC-based company with extensive ties to the international forestry market. This acquisition brings with it founder Doug Williams, PhD., Jason Smith, RPBio, and an extensive roster of associated professionals and sub-contractors.
Cortex was established in 1990 and grew to offer services in resource management (planning and analysis), management services (project and process management, communications), and investor support. Over the years Cortex’s multidisciplinary team has included ecologists, foresters, legislation and policy analysts, computer programmers, project management professionals, facilitators, trainers, and specialists in scientific and technical communications. More recently, Cortex has focused on forestland investor support (e.g., valuation) and forest carbon analysis.

With the acquisition of Cortex, Ecora expands the scope and depth of services offered in key strategic areas including forestland valuation, integration of timber and carbon values in strategic management planning, and tighter linkages between land base information systems and executive decision-making. Doug and Jason are working closely with Ecora’s Director of Forestry, Jay Greenfield and his team. Together they are actively integrating current and ongoing Cortex projects into Ecora’s operations to the benefit of both new and existing Ecora clients.
