California City, California Nov 17, 2024 (Issuewire.com)  - E. Coli outbreaks from the major supermarket carrots have occurred in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. The deadly outbreak has killed one and sicked 39 people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to make people aware of this dangerous incident. Grimmway Farms, the California-based company has said that the products might have been contaminated with the Siga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli). According to the CDC’s report, this might be the reason for such a dangerous outbreak. Even after the report, the carrots are still available in the major supermarkets for sale.

It has also been observed that it is the carrots that are for use from 11th September to 12th November. The problem is happening with carrots from brands like Cal-Organic, Wegman’s and Kroger, and President’s Choice. There are few other brands but these are major ones. A lot of people are getting sick after consuming this particular product and it is quite threatening for both adults and children. From the source, it is also coming to know that ‘the true number of sick people is likely much higher than the number reported’. Most of the cases are not even registered right now. Thus, no one can understand how big the problem is.

After interviewing 27 sick people with this disease, 96% said that they had eaten the carrots. So, now it is quite clear that carrots from these brands have been contaminated with E. Coli. Jeff Huckaby, the President, and CEO of Grimmway Farms has said ‘We take our role in ensuring the safety and quality of our products seriously. The health of our customers and the integrity of our products are our highest priorities, and we are conducting a thorough review of our growing, harvest, and processing practices. Our food safety team is working with our suppliers and health authorities’.

All the people affected with E. Coli have symptoms like diarrhea, severe stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, and fever. The symptoms are emerging after a couple of days to nine days. Hence, people are not getting the symptoms right after eating carrots. And this is delaying the whole treatment. Now it is time to avoid consuming carrots until the problem is solved completely.
