Shanghai, China Aug 21, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Leading soup base manufacturer Fushun Dufengxuan Bone God Biotechnology Co., Ltd, has announced its commitment to source 100% cage-free eggs and chicken across all operations by 2035, becoming the first major soup base supplier in China to adopt higher animal welfare sourcing standards. The policy will apply across Dufengxuan’s portfolio of brands, including Tangshidai, Tangleshi, Xinshishen, and Zhongaotang, which collectively serve over 2,000 large-scale restaurant chains and food processing companies nationwide. This initiative positions Dufengxuan at the forefront of sustainable sourcing within China's food service supply chain and responds to growing global demand for ethically sourced ingredients.
"Our commitment reflects the natural evolution of our mission to provide customers with the highest quality and most nutritious soup products available," said Yu Lianfu, Founder of Dufengxuan. “Adopting a 100% cage-free sourcing standard for eggs and broilers by 2035 aligns with our values of delivering exceptional nutrition and taste, while meeting growing international expectations for ethical sourcing. This move also strengthens our position for global expansion, without compromising our dedication to customer excellence and product innovation.”
Established as a pioneer in standardized soup base production, Dufengxuan has built its reputation on providing restaurant chains with premium bone-based soup foundations that support kitchen innovation and menu enhancement. Listed on China's New Third Board in 2016, the company holds more than 30 invention patents and is recognized as a national high-tech enterprise. The company's proprietary "molecule + mathematics" transformation technology has revolutionized traditional soup base production, supporting over 300,000 restaurant locations over two decades.
“Dufengxuan’s comprehensive cage-free egg and boiler commitment sets a strong precedent for China’s food service supply chain,” said Bing Lam, Sustainability Program Lead at Lever China, a Shanghai-based food industry consultancy that partnered with the company to develop the policy. “By prioritizing animal welfare, Dufengxuan is not only aligning with rising consumer expectations for food safety and ethical sourcing, but also paving the way for more responsible practices across the industry. We hope this move encourages other suppliers and manufacturers to take similar steps toward a more sustainable and humane food system.”
Cage-free egg production, in which hens are given the freedom to move in open environments, significantly improves animal welfare and food safety. Exhaustive research by the European Food Safety Authority found that cage-free farms have up to 25 times lower contamination rates by key Salmonella strains. An increasing number of consumers have also been leaving eggs off their plates as the best way to help laying hens.
