Los Angeles, California Jan 22, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - “Acid Friends was a song idea that Allisyn (Snyder) heard me kicking around for years,” guitarist Steve Arm recalls. “We were isolating in Joshua Tree with a mobile recording studio and looking for a place to start when she suggested we give that tune new life.”
“Our formula on these trips is a demo a day,” lyricist and vocalist Allisyn Snyder shares. “Some days we start from scratch, others we resurrect something from the graveyard. I grew up listening to Steve play this gorgeous little riff. He never gave it a title or bothered to write it down, but the first lyric was always, ‘your acid friends keep calling while your mind is still unthawing.’ Those words stuck with me, especially hearing them as a kid who had never tried drugs, imagining what it would feel like for my mind to unthaw.”
Steve tracked an acoustic guitar as a guide, but only remembered a handful of lyrics. Minutes later, Allisyn had four verses ready to go, and found a message for the chorus, a household saying as well as an inside joke.
“Keep on going… but don’t go too far,” was roadside advice from a stranger given to Steve and band-mate Shane Smith while driving through the outskirts of Philadelphia pre-GPS. “It might be the most useless driving directions ever,” Steve laughs. “But the phrase sounds quite profound when applied to almost anything else."
The ACID FRIENDS music video, also dropping on 1-23, is a whimsical narrative, featuring Brian Duss as an inept night guard who notices unusual activity on the security feed.
