DJ Blayze has always loved music
"I actually started deejaying in elementary school", says DJ Blayze. DJ Blayze was born on May 7, 1973, in Mobile, Alabama. Early on, he developed a reputation as a music kid and his mother always made sure that his love of music was fueled.
He was just five years old when he was chosen to conduct the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, during an elementary school field trip, thus giving birth to a music connoisseur. "On Saturday mornings I would provide the 'soundtrack' for my mother as she cleaned the house" and "really became interested in being a DJ in middle school while watching other djs perform". It was only fitting because at these parties DJ Blayze wouldn't be the one dancing, he stood or sat right where the DJ was set up, watching intently to every movement.
DJ Blayze radio career
DJ Blayze started his professional radio career at WDLT-FM in Mobile, Alabama, and moved over to WBLX-FM before moving on to WVEE-FM in Atlanta, GA. His radio journey would lead him from WOWI-FM in Norfolk, Virginia to KIIZ-FM in Killeen, Texas. Now he's back home holding down middays on the Gulf Coast on heritage station 92.9 WBLX-FM.
DJ Blayze first mix tapes
His first mixtape was called 'DJ Blayze Most Blunted'. Which he has plans to reactivate in 2023. Credited for being one of the first in his city to embrace the mixtape game, he has dropped several mixtapes underground over the years and in the last decade dropped mixtapes in New York City through his affiliation with Bronx DJ coalition SCURRY LIFE DJs.
His most recent projects with Meego Daigotti (Big Meego Sh$t) from Mobile, AL, and Mz. Goodz (Hard) from Cleveland, Ohio can be found online.
DJ Blayze transition from on-air personality to A&R
DJ Blayze has been in radio or near for over 30 years and has seen many trends come and go. After years in radio, DJ Blayze is seasoned to transition from an on-air personality to a dual role as an A&R. He has hosted showcases, and worked personally with and consulted artists which lend years of hands-on experience.
He will be working with BSMG Records as an A&R and he couldn't be more excited about this opportunity. "I'm looking forward to being a part of not only the company but also continuing to mentor new artists.
