Depression to Empowerment Through Music

Singer Songwriter Johan Danno hopes to spread his infectious positive vibe and message of hope and empowerment through music, returning to South Florida to release his 4th single "Rescue Me" after 8yrs in Australia.

West Palm Beach, Florida Sep 20, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - After selling everything and moving to Australia in 2010, little did Johan Danno know 8 years later he would return home to Florida to find what he was searching for. After 10-months on the road performing from Boston to Austin, traveling via bus and train, Johan returned to Florida as an internationally recognized musician and touring artist but with more questions than answers. It seemed the more Johan traveled outward and forward in pursuing his dream, the more he traveled inward discovering himself, and how his music is helping others. Where music started as an outlet to overcome his depression in his teens, it transformed into a means to fuel his infectious positive vibes, share his message of hope and love, to connect with fans and fellow artists online through social media, and lead him back to South Florida to find his musical Soul family.

Independently releasing his 4th single “Rescue Me in September, the music video hopes to flip the stigma around mental health, featuring the main character Danno able to “Rescue” everyone except himself. The song recorded in the Australian surf music mecca Byron Bay was filmed in West Palm Beach Florida, during Johan’s Voltaire show, and with help from the budding art and music community and collectively called ‘Soulfam’, his musical family. Premiered on Australia’s Triple J radio station and in South Florida’s Purehoney Magazine, the song was described by Born Music in the UK as “Soul-drenched vocal atop foot-stomping beats and rolling guitar licks, captivating elements of funk and soul never shying away from the primary force of Danno’s music – his astutely conscious lyricism and undeniably powerful delivery.”

Pulling inspiration from songwriters and artists such as Bob Dylan, Hozier, and Nahko, every single Johan Danno releases comes with a message, bringing him into a new music genre many are calling ‘conscious music’. With his first single 2016’s “Fall in Line” asking listeners to follow their heart over falling in line, 2017’s “Fighting For” asked us to fight for what we believe in, closing the year with fan favorite “Sunrise” providing a flowing soulful folk tune with a prayer that every sunrise brings hope, and every sunset brings peace. Recently sharing the story behind “Rescue Me” and performing live on NBC 6 South Florida’s Six in the Mix, “Rescue Me” sets the stage for Johan’s next single “Alive” he calls his most powerful song. Written the morning after Johan changed his life at 19 by choosing music, love, and meditation as the medication for his depression, years later when it brought a stranger to tears of joy at a party, it inspired Johan to leave his career for music, and like the stories he tells at shows or his post online, embodies his journey to spread hope and empowerment through music.

The music video for “Rescue Me” is now out on youtube with the song available on all platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, Apple music, and Amazon.  With multiple singles and his second EP "Live Alive" out later this year, Johan Danno is an independent artist to watch that is on the move. Constantly performing live on stages across South Florida, with Australia and the hitting the road across the USA on the horizon for 2019, his music and message are finding an audience globally due to catchy songs, helping guide listeners wanting to travel the distance from their head to their heart.
