Creating Meaningful Opportunities for Young Adults in Memphis at the 2019 Urban Summit

  • Creating Meaningful Opportunities for Young Adults in Memphis at the 2019 Urban Summit

Memphis, Tennessee Feb 20, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - In the Greater Memphis area, there are approximately 45,000 young adults currently out of school and work. Memphis is also home to over 2,000 churches. At the 2019 Urban Summit, we will engage with nationally-recognized faith leaders and innovators, hear from young adult social innovators and local entrepreneurs, and support entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders. Join us as we explore the economic and social needs of young adults, as well as what people of faith can do to address this crisis.

This groundbreaking event will bring together hundreds of community and faith leaders from all over the city to hear directly from young adults and the organizations that support them. Together, we will explore the issue of economic justice through keynote speeches, group discussion, panels, and workshops. The driving question of the Summit will be “how do we create economic pathways for all of our city’s young adults?”

From 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, February 22nd, we will hear Summit Talks from experts and thought leaders, including Dr. Stacy Spencer of New Direction, PJ Moore of World Relief, and Lori Spicer Robertson of The United Way. On Saturday, February 23rd from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, we will hear from Reverend Earle Fisher, as well as young adults and social innovators in a Business Pitch Competition and Big Ideas Contest. We have over twenty speakers in five workshops discussing mentorship, policy change, the church’s commitment, business innovation, and education. You do not want to miss this opportunity to create meaningful, positive change for the future of Memphis!

The 2019 Urban Summit is co-hosted by Memphis Center for Urban and Theological Studies, The Memphis Leadership Foundation, Su Casa Family Ministries, and The Collective. Platinum sponsors include Wepfer Marine, Lehman Roberts, and Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, where the event will be held. The event address is 70 N. Bellevue Boulevard, Memphis TN 38104. Tickets are available at TheUrbanSummit.Org.
