Columbus, Ohio Jul 30, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Honest Jobs, the largest platform in the nation for fair-chance employment and job-seekers, unveiled its plans to launch a 2.0 version of its website on August 10. The announcement comes as companies are looking for various ways to invest in social justice and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. The startup hopes the updates will expand its reach to some of the world’s largest brands and employers.
Since its founding in 2018, Honest Jobs has connected 300 companies with over 6,000 formerly incarcerated candidates across America. For employers, ranging from small businesses to global enterprises, the platform seamlessly connects hiring teams with qualified fair-chance candidates for a more diverse workforce. For job seekers, it creates economic opportunity, reduces recidivism, and addresses the issue of equity in America.
“In America, 1 in 3 black men and 1 in 6 Latino men have a felony conviction,” says Harley Blakeman, Founder and CEO of Honest Jobs. “Companies can no longer say they care about diversity and inclusion without implementing a system for hiring job candidates with criminal records.”
New features debuting on August 10 include:
- PassCheck Technology: PassCheck evaluates each job seekers unique criminal record on a "case-by-case" basis, at scale. This allows Honest Jobs to send qualified applicants with criminal records that are not a direct conflict with the duties of any given job openings. Employers can now create a PassCheck for each type of job in the organization and offer fair-chance employment while staying within EEOC guidelines.
- WOTC Eligibility: When employers hire someone who's been either convicted of a felony or released from incarceration in the last 12 months, they're eligible for a federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit up to $9,600 per eligible employee hired. The platform shows in advance which candidates are still eligible for these credits.
- Candidate Search: Employers will be able to proactively recruit candidates anywhere in the U.S. through the candidate search feature. Search through thousands of candidates with filters such as city, state, education, work experience, PassCheck™ and WOTC Eligibility.
- Enterprise: For medium to large-sized business Honest Jobs will offer an enterprise membership. This allows users to create a company account with multiple administrators. Employers will have the ability to login under the company account, post and remove jobs, and search for candidates.
Fueled by his own 14-month prison stint for drug trafficking, Blakeman hopes to help those with a criminal past permanently turn their lives around with gainful employment. "There are over 25 million Americans with felony convictions. Most are eager and willing to work if only given the chance".
For a limited time, companies that sign up by September 10th for the Enterprise level membership will receive unlimited administrator seats on the platform. For more information on how your company can use Honest Jobs, contact Harley Blakeman at harley@honestjobs.co or visit www.honestjobs.co.
