Dubai, United Arab Emirates Sep 8, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Cisco released series of new routers and IoT gateways. It is aimed at commercial settings and loaded with support for Wi-Fi 6, 5G, 4G LTE, private networks, and public safety.
Cisco Catalyst IR1800, IR8100 series and IR8300 Series routers are designed to simplify enterprise needs for IoT connectivity at the network edge. Based on Cisco's IOS XE operating system, the router can be configured for mobile or fixed assets and effectively extend companies’ network and SD-WAN to the edge.
The unified architecture embedded into the devices can help streamline management and security for IT and operations teams. The new Cisco IoT Gateway Series (aimed at indoor and outdoor connectivity) come with the company's IoT Operations Dashboard that eases deployment in a cloud-based framework.
The Catalyst Industrial Routers are also modular, so customers can swap out the CPU or batteries in the field, extending the device lifespan.
These new Cisco products have included support for Wireless Smart Utility Network (Wi-SUN), a wireless mesh technology standard for utility IoT devices. Cisco brings a reliable, scalable, future-proof platform by combining the routing competencies across their portfolio with modularity, support for the Wi-SUN standards, and an option of public and private cellular technologies.
Cisco's new cellular gateway is said to be the comprehensive IoT solution for industrial vertical markets. Under the Catalyst umbrella in late 2020, Cisco unified its Integrated Services Routers, Aggregation Services Routers, and Cloud Services Routers. This year, Cisco introduced a new part of Catalyst routers with a 5G cellular gateway.
