Cincinnati-area police officer struck by vehicle after 30-car chase will be honored with apparel fundraiser

Shield Republic Charities introduces ‘Hold the Line’ fundraiser for family of Kaia Grant of Springdale, Ohio

Raleigh, North Carolina Mar 26, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Saturday night, a 33-year-old police officer in the city of Springdale, Ohio was killed in the line of duty when a fleeing suspect with a felony burglary warrant crashed into her.

Now, the fallen officer will be honored with a special apparel fundraiser for her bereaved loved ones. Shield Republic Charities announced today a new “Hold the Line” apparel fundraiser for Kaia Grant of the Springdale Police Department in Springdale, Ohio.

Officer Grant and a fellow officer were pursuing the suspect, Terry Blankenship, the evening of Saturday, March 21. They parked and exited their vehicles on Interstate 275 to set up tire-deflation devices to stop the suspect as area police departments pursued Blankenship in a 30-car chase. Blankenship ultimately crashed into Grant’s cruiser, causing her own vehicle to crush her. She was rushed to University of Cincinnati Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Through Hold the Line campaigns, patriotic lifestyle brand Shield Republic honors fallen police officers and first responders, with all net proceeds from the sale of t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, ladies tank tops and decals donated to a fallen officer’s family or unit.

Officer Grant was known for her toughness and her big heart.

"We were heartbroken to learn of the untimely and tragic death of another one of America’s rising stars in blue,” said Charlie Romero, spokesperson for Shield Republic. “Our Shield Republic community chose to honor this young officer known for her kindness and a commitment to service through a Hold the Line fundraiser remembering her and bringing comfort to her family as they grapple with their loss.”
