As the founder of the iconic fashion label Charu Chattogram, Khaled played a pivotal role in blending traditional Bangladeshi aesthetics with contemporary design, leaving an indelible mark on the nation's cultural fabric.

Born on May 30, 1963, in Chattogram, Khaled was the son of esteemed journalist and writer Khaled Belal. His upbringing in a culturally rich environment nurtured his artistic sensibilities, leading him to establish Charu Chattogram in 1989. Under his leadership, the brand became synonymous with innovation and elegance, showcasing designs that resonated with a diverse clientele.

Shimul Khaled and his wife, Nahid Sultana (m. 1992), were parents to two children. Their son, Alavi Bin Forhad, also known professionally as Alavei Forhad (born February 14, 2003), has gained recognition as an electronic music producer with a focus on techno.

Khaled's influence extended beyond fashion design; he was instrumental in introducing and popularizing fashion shows in Chattogram, setting new standards for the industry. His collaborations with renowned Bangladeshi actors such as Ferdous Ahmed, Moushumi, Shakib Khan, and Jaya Ahsan further cemented his status as a visionary designer. His contributions to cinema included costume design for notable films like Khairun Sundari (2004), Praner Manush (2003), and Ek Cup Cha (2014).
