Gary spent the last 8 years rolling around on the North and Irish seas as the Captain of various Crew Transfer Vessels working primarily on European Offshore Wind Farms. Prior to acquiring his new Lockfit franchise, Gary wanted a new challenge and business opportunity.
Not wanting to start a new business from scratch, Gary chose to go down the franchising route and make an investment in a sector and with a brand which was well known, recession-proof and was growing fast.
Gary Parker, said: "My previous role was very well paid but I was away for 3/4 weeks at a time and I was constantly under pressure due to the nature of the job, it was getting me down and the stress and responsibility was beginning to affect my health and quality of life.
I was completely and utterly fed up and I wanted to be the master of my 'own' ship, be solely responsible for earning my 'own' money and be my 'own' boss.
I had previously thought of buying a franchise for a few years as an escape but I found nothing that really appealed to me, either it was too expensive or the franchisers were too 'pushy'.
I stumbled upon Lockfit by accident on a 3rd party website.
Out of curiosity I got in touch with Lockfit and spoke to Andy Moore (franchise & business development manager) who explained the role etc. He also put me in touch with other franchisees to have a chat which helped me decide.
I purchased the Lockfit Northern Ireland (South East) franchise the following week.
It all happened very fast for me, one week I was at sea the following I was on Lockfit's fantastic training course.
I am excited and apprehensive about my future but I am fully prepared to work hard and due to the support I have received from Lockfit so far I am extremely positive about my imminent 'less stressed' future".
