Markham, Ontario Sep 8, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Can Sports Center has opened a new basketball gym at 1443 Denison Street in Markham, giving athletes and families access to two full courts and four half courts built to championship standards. The facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and already hosts active badminton sports programming, with pickleball courts and golf areas set to open progressively through the summer.
The basketball gym joins a growing list of amenities at the location. Badminton courts are open now, and staff say the courts have drawn steady traffic from local players since opening. Pickleball courts Markham residents have been asking about are scheduled to roll out in phases over the coming months, alongside dedicated golf areas.
Court access runs around the clock, a detail facility staff point to as central to how the space is used. Members can book time early in the morning or late at night, a schedule that has become more common among adult recreational leagues and shift workers seeking flexible training windows.
"Families are booking courts at 6 a.m. before school drop-off and again at 10 p.m. after work, and the two full courts handle both without a wait," said the Facility Director at Can Sports Center.
The 24/7 basketball gym is positioned alongside the facility's other offerings, including badminton leagues and open court time. Staff noted that the courts meet championship standards, a specification the facility has built its basketball scheduling around for league play and private bookings alike.
Summer Camp 2026 is also part of the current lineup at the Denison Street location. The camp offers basketball and badminton programs for young athletes, with an optional lunch add-on for families booking full-day sessions. Organizers say the camp schedule was built to run alongside regular court hours, so camp groups and drop-in members can share the space without disrupting bookings.
Looking ahead, Can Sports Center expects pickleball courts and golf areas to come online in stages before the end of the summer, rounding out a facility that already combines a 24/7 basketball gym with active badminton courts. Additional scheduling details for the phased openings are expected to be announced as each space nears completion.
