Business Process Automation; Built to Last, Wired to Serve

He helps businesses trade paper for power, inefficiency for insight.

Las Vegas, Nevada Aug 10, 2025 (Issuewire.com)  - It was written by The Business Review Journal.

It was a warm July evening in Las Vegas when Larry Cohn finally let himself slow down. He poured a small glass of good Scotch, took a breath, and headed out to the ballgame. That moment of pause was rare for a man who had already logged hours of work that day before most people finished their coffee. Yet, it offered a quiet snapshot of someone who has spent decades helping businesses find calm in their chaos.

Larry is the president and owner of Business Process Automation Company and managing director of Battle-Cohn IT Consultants, but titles alone don't tell the story. He has spent over thirty years making the complicated world of digital transformation simple, especially for companies who didn't even realize how badly they needed it.

A Career Carved from Curiosity and Grit

Larry’s path to business automation started in an unexpected place: selling maintenance for Digital Equipment Corporation minicomputers in the 1980s. It wasn’t glamorous, but it introduced him to the operational pain points of small and mid-sized businesses.

In 1992, a loyal client approached him with a problem. They had invested in a document management system that quickly became obsolete when the vendor went out of business. Desperate, they turned to Larry. “I didn’t know anything about paperless systems at the time,” he said. But instead of walking away, Larry did his homework, found a new vendor, and personally walked the client through a demo. The result? A $50,000 contract, and a lifelong pivot.

From that moment, he built his reputation not just as a tech guy, but as a problem-solver who listens first and fixes second. He went on to become the top salesperson at his firm for nine of the eleven years he was there.

By 2001, Larry was done making money for other people. With a modest retirement account and not much else, he launched his own company. That business evolved into what is now Business Process Automation Company, and it has thrived ever since.

From Cookies to Compliance

The road hasn’t always been smooth. One of Larry's biggest hurdles has been helping clients break free from their old habits. "The toughest thing to overcome has been the psychology of process change," he said.

He recalled a story from a project with Concordia University in Irvine, where a counselor refused to give up paper. "She said she couldn’t do her job without paper," Larry laughed. His creative solution? Deliver the files digitally, but reward her with a chocolate chip cookie every day she didn’t open the paper copies. Eventually, she stopped asking for the paper. The cookies stopped too.

His work often addresses deeper challenges like HIPAA compliance and information security. "Most companies don’t even understand the cost of storing paper," Larry said. "You can't protect private data in a filing cabinet."

Custom Solutions, Not Cookie-Cutter Software

Today, Larry leads a lean, highly efficient team of contractors that support everything from accounting to complex IT implementations. His business isn't about pushing one-size-fits-all software. "I’m not product specific. I’m solution specific," he said. "A lot of companies are resellers trying to fit you into their product. I find the product that fits you."

Business Process Automation Company serves clients of all sizes, from two-person shops to organizations processing over a thousand applications per day. His tools include custom e-forms, AI-driven automation, and even a powerful PDF editing product that alone brings in over $200,000 annually.

An Operator with Heart

Larry's voice brightens when he talks about his clients. "I get a warm, fuzzy feeling helping people become more efficient," he said. "They save money, serve customers better, and reduce staffing needs without layoffs."

He doesn’t just build systems; he builds trust. "I have clients that go back twenty-five years. You don’t keep clients that long unless you’re doing something right."

He also mentors new entrepreneurs. "If I think you have a good idea and you’re serious, call me. I’ll help, no charge."

Las Vegas, Meet Your Fixer

Larry moved to the Las Vegas Valley five years ago and immediately got involved. He serves on the Nevada Contractors Association, the fundraising committee for Junior Achievement, and is a regular face at local Chamber of Commerce events. One of his largest clients came from a fifteen-second introduction at a chamber meeting.

"Being out in the community really helps," he said. "It's not just about networking. It's about building real relationships."

A Legacy in the Making

At seventy years old, Larry is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, he’s gearing up for growth. He recently partnered with a digital marketing and automation platform to streamline his outreach and has plans to pass the torch to his son in a few years. His short-term goal? Crack the million-dollar mark in gross sales.

"I've always told young people: Do something you love. Don’t just take a job."

For Larry, doing what he loves has never been about chasing flashy trends. It has always been about showing up, solving problems, and leaving things better than he found them.
