Buffalo, New York Jun 15, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. (BBD) today announced the appointment of former state and federal prosecutor Jeremiah E. Lenihan as Chief Federal Litigator. Directed by BBD President and Chief Legal Officer Frank V. Balon, this role expands the company's capability to address ongoing challenges in waste management, specifically the used cooking oil (UCO) market, including increased losses from theft, monopolistic practices, and environmental hazards.
Lenihan will utilize the federal court system to prosecute competitors engaged in tortious interference and pursue legal action against organized criminal enterprises operating within the sector.
“Given Jerry’s extensive track record in successful prosecutions at the state and federal levels, coupled with his civil practice, makes him a big help to our enforcement activities,” stated Frank V. Balon, President and Chief Legal Officer of Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. “He gives us the capability of entering the federal court system to reduce the litigation burden of the local courts by holding the controlling minds and beneficiaries of illegal business practices accountable, providing accountability and relief to restaurants being duped by these bad operators.”
Lenihan will coordinate closely with federal prosecutors and BBD Law Enforcement Liaison John Feiter. Feiter, a Boston law school graduate and former Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the nation's largest federal law enforcement agency, is currently a witness against a Chinese organized crime syndicate being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of New York.
BACKGROUND AND CREDENTIALS
Lenihan brings over 15 years of legal experience, most recently serving as Special Counsel at Hurwitz Fine, P.C. focusing on municipal defense and RICO prosecutions. Previously, as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Western District of New York’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Section, he prosecuted gang organizations, money laundering, and financial fraud.
His career includes serving as Assistant Chief Counsel for the Department of Homeland Security (ICE) and Special Deputy Attorney General for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey, where he supervised white-collar and official corruption investigations.
Lenihan holds a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Quinnipiac University. He is admitted to the New York and New Jersey bars and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Daemen University.
