New York City, New York Mar 4, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Braden Paes has set his next two projects for release in 2023 and 2024.
Taking advantage of the Covid delays of the past 2 years Braden has penned his next two projects, believing they are stories that are more relevant than ever, given the current state of the world.
The first is a half-hour comedy series that revolves around his upbringing in a predominantly caucasian neighbourhood, where he and his two sisters had to navigate the waters of being the new kids in town who didn't really look like anyone else. The second is a highly personal story about Braden's family and their journey to Canada.
Braden explains. "We are at an inflection point in history where our industry has the choice to lead the way with the change in meeting their commitment to diversity on screen and diversity in story telling. For far too long, diverse people have been overlooked and used as tropes in story telling. It's time for the world to understand and embrace the fact that we do have stories worth telling about our hardships, successes, and romances.”
Speaking about his second project, an unnamed feature focuses on his maternal grandparents fleeing Kenya for Canada. Braden continues, “There's a stigma out there that immigrants leave their home countries in search of a better life. Better education or jobs. That isn't entirely true. Such was the case with my family. They had incredible lives and business, in fact, they wanted to stay put. They just weren't really given an option. It's time that true stories were told by those that have experienced them, and that they are given the platform to not only entertain, but inform audiences. I believe that this is an incredibly fundamental step towards building the tolerance and understanding that is at times missing from the world.”
The first of the two highly anticipated projects is set to go to camera later this year in Alberta.
