Methuen, Massachusetts Oct 28, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Borislow Insurance, in partnership with Captivated Health, has named Eric Godwin of Manassas City Public Schools in Manassas, Virginia, the 2026 public-sector recipient of the Commitment to Excellence Award.
The Commitment to Excellence Award recognizes faculty and staff who have made a significant contribution to educational quality within their school communities. Open to full- and part-time education professionals, the program gives colleagues an opportunity to recognize individuals whose work has strengthened the educational experience for students.
Nominees are reviewed by a committee representing participating schools and districts, with consideration given to the reach and longevity of their contributions, leadership, and broader impact on education.
Godwin was recognized for developing the Work-Based Learning Program at Manassas City Public Schools, where he has served as CTE Work-Based Learning Specialist for four years. During that time, documented work-based learning experiences have grown from approximately 526 to 1,138, connecting more students with career exploration and workplace experience.
His work has also created direct connections between students and employers. Godwin helped launch the district’s first CTE Signing Day, which recognized 18 graduating students who had accepted full-time positions. Through a separate skilled-trades program developed with the Northern Virginia Construction Careers Coalition, five of six participating students received full-time employment offers after graduation.
“Eric has brought schools, businesses, and community partners together to expanded what is possible for our students, and his commitment to making those opportunities accessible continues to strengthen the program,” wrote Virginia Harlow, who nominated Godwin. “He truly represents the commitment to excellence this award was created to recognize.”
As the 2026 public-sector recipient, Godwin will receive a $2,500 award stipend intended for professional development and a commemorative plaque.
The next nomination period begins in January 2027, when school communities can once again nominate faculty and staff whose work has made meaningful, lasting difference to education.
