Black Teacher Collaborative Appoints Ayanna Taylor, Ed.D. as Vice President of Program and Innovation

Atlanta, Georgia Sep 23, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - The Black Teacher Collaborative (BTC) has named Ayanna Taylor, Ed.D. as Vice President of Program and Innovation, overseeing the organization’s development of solutions that support the elevation and development of Black teachers. She reports directly to the CEO, Hiewet Senghor, and will be a member of BTC’s Leadership Council. 

Dr. Taylor joins BTC after 9 years at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, where she served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of English Education, in addition to serving as the Partnership Schools Coordinator, Director of Undergraduate Studies and the English Program Leader in the Department of Teaching and Learning. 

Dr. Taylor has been an educator for 27 years, holding roles as a middle and high school teacher, college guidance counselor, and department leader. Along with her work in schools, Dr. Taylor has also served in multiple education roles in for-profit and nonprofit organizations.  Dr. Taylor has also spent the past 15 years leading a successful consulting firm, which has allowed her the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients in youth development, charter and district schools, start-up, and established non-profits. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, her Masters in Public Administration from Rutgers University, and her Doctorate of Education from New York University.

I am excited to join this team and empower other teachers to provide that same experience,” Dr. Taylor said.

Dr. Taylor currently serves on the Board of NJ LEEP and as a Commissioner on the Somerset County Youth Services Commission. She collaborates with other educators on the Families for Radical Education and Empowerment website and has previously served as an elected board member on the Warren Township School Board. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., wife and mother.
