Saint Catharines-Niagara, Ontario Jun 2, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - The award-winning feature-length documentary Prince - The Untold Story (also known as Mr. Nelson on the North Side) will screen at the Niagara Canada International Film Festival on June 6 at the Greg Frewin Theatre in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The documentary explores the life, artistry, and cultural impact of legendary musician Prince, tracing his early beginnings in Minneapolis and the support he received from the institution known as “The Way.” Through firsthand accounts and exclusive interviews, the film highlights Prince’s relentless dedication to music, his fearless artistic vision, and the cultural and industry barriers he challenged throughout his career.
Featured cast includes Harry 'Spike' Moss, Orianthi, Chaka Khan, Billy (ZZ Top) Gibbons, Eddie Kramer, Dennis Quaid and many others connected to Prince’s journey and legacy.
Interviewees share stories of Prince’s marathon recording sessions, full-scale concerts followed by late-night performances at local clubs on the very same night for devoted fans, and the tireless work ethic that became central to Prince’s legendary status. The film also examines how the American music industry systematically restricted Black musicians, limiting their access to music education, radio airplay, distribution, and broader career opportunities.
The documentary was honoured as a winner for Best Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival and has continued to receive strong praise from audiences and critics internationally.
